From idea to reality: creating your perfect home
Step 1: Choosing your design
Everything we produce is entirely bespoke, the only limit being your imagination.
Each of our standard designs may be customised to your specifications. We are also happy to undertake fully-bespoke designs, or to match existing designs. Each design may be produced in any of our colourways.
Wall coverings are available in a full range of silks, slub silk, Chinese rice paper, and metallic foil papers. Other materials are available for bespoke requirements.
We supply samples of either our standard designs or your custom designs, for a small fee.
Step 2: Planning your layout
As part of our complimentary planning service, you will be asked to submit measurements and photographs of your rooms to our specialist team. Our designers will work with you to identify the number, size and shape of panels required best to meet your requirements.
We also offer on-site design consultancy worldwide and are happy to provide free advice regarding style, layout, conservation and historical authenticity.
The final design will be provided to you as a numbered miniature, for final approval.
Step 3: Production
All our papers are produced in-house using the finest quality Chinese silks and other materials. Once prepared, the papers are cut into the necessary panels for your design.
Our artists will paint your design using the traditional two-brush method — one brush applies pigment whilst a second wet brush is used for blending and gradients.
After painting, any embroidery or beading is added, using 100% silk thread, or metallic thread as required.
We are happy to apply antiquing to your wall coverings, and can also add a protective glaze if desired.
Production time varies based on the quantity and complexity of design, but is generally between 10 and 12 weeks.
Step 4: Hanging
We supply full hanging and care instructions and can share a list of trusted fitters with experience in hanging silk wall coverings.
As our wall coverings are bespoke, we carefully plan each design according to the required hanging plan. This helps to ensure an excellent final result.
We are happy to add any desired finishing touches on-site, and to supply matching paints for your design.
Our wall coverings are designed to last for generations, and so are our customer relationships. We are always available to provide additional support or guidance as required.
